However, a barebone laptop, or barebone notebook, is partially assembled. All barebone laptops come pre-assembled with a case, display, motherboard, I/O ports, a battery, and the AC adapter. Depending on the model, they may have the CPU and graphics card pre-installed or soldered on. Those who dislike the fact that many manufacturers opt for a pre-installed OS may like that they can install their own OS free of a manufacturer's own software in a barebone laptop.
